En el 2008 comenzamos Magnolia y yo un proyecto muy bonito y noble llamado Cortos Verdes, el primer portal de cortometrajes de habla hispana internacional, en aquel tiempo hacíamos entrevistas cada mes y con el tiempo abrimos una sección de cortos en línea, debo reconocer que cuando YouTube apenas nacía íbamos a la par en esos menesteres, teníamos nuestro propio servidor en línea para que fueran vistos los cortometrajes, a la par comenzamos a hacer entrevistas todo el tiempo e iba creciendo, se unió talento de otros países para formar parte con artículos y reportajes, eran tiempos de ideales, es decir, todo este proyecto fue sin fines de lucro, reconozco que buscamos hacerlo sustentable, auto suficiente, pero insisto, eran tiempos en que la publicidad no confiaba en internet ¿De dónde sacábamos para solventar este proyecto? De los sueldos fijos que uno tenía en ese tiempo y la buena voluntad de amigos, patrocinadores amantes del cine y colaboradores, todo en especie, nada en efectivo, sí, lo único que queríamos es dar a conocer a aquellos que estaban haciendo cine desde el cortometraje y que luego brincaron a hacer sus largometrajes, desde el productor o productora hasta el gaffer, porque siempre quisimos mostrar a cada uno de los involucrados, nadie sobraba, todos eran importantes .

En los años siguientes nació la Muestra Internacional de Cortometrajes MULTIFEST (2012), luego el Mes del Cortometraje Escalofriante (2014) y enseguida nos aventamos a levantar el desaparecido Tenebra Film Fest (2016), estamos hablando que al mismo tiempo seguíamos con la misión de cortos verdes, y si, por increíble que parezca, seguía siendo subvencionado por los recursos personales, pero en el 2017 nos quedamos sin trabajo fijo y comenzaba el mundo del emprendimiento personal, saben lo que es eso, a veces hay $ a veces no, por lo que fue insostenible el proyecto. En 2020 se intentó echarlo a andar nuevamente, pero llego la pandemia y eso nos detuvo, por lo que decidimos seguir con nuestras vidas y proyectos, pero esa espinita siempre se quedó ahí, con el paso del tiempo nos dimos cuenta que todo había cambiado, las reglas del juego cambiaron y hoy decidimos volver a levantar este bonito proyecto, ahora con más experiencia, pidiendo ayuda al universo (o como quieran llamarlo) al tiempo que también nos movemos y actuamos, porque evidentemente las cosas no llegan solas.

Quisimos volver haciendo entrevistas en video al talento creador y documentales que mostraran la riqueza de nuestra ciudad y nuestro México, pero nuestro equipo no es el adecuado porque está dañado y es cada vez más obsoleto. Todo esto nos hace difícil crear contenido de calidad.

FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN

In 2008, Magnolia and I embarked on a very beautiful and noble project called Cortos Verdes (Green Shorts), the first international Spanish-language short film portal. At that time, we conducted interviews every month, and over time, we opened an online shorts section. I must admit that when YouTube was just emerging, we were on par with these endeavors. We had our own online server for showcasing the short films. Simultaneously, we began conducting interviews regularly, and the project kept growing. Talent from other countries joined us to contribute articles and reports. Those were times of ideals; in other words, this entire project was non-profit. While we aimed to make it sustainable and self-sufficient, it was a time when advertising didn't trust the internet. How did we fund this project? From our fixed salaries at that time and the goodwill of friends, cinema-loving sponsors, and collaborators—all in kind, nothing in cash. Yes, all we wanted was to showcase those who were making films from short films and then moved on to make their feature films. From the producer to the gaffer, we always wanted to show each one involved, no one was redundant, everyone was important.

In the following years, the International Short Film Showcase MULTIFEST was born (2012), followed by the Spooky Short Film Month (2014), and then we took on the challenge of reviving the Tenebra Film Fest (2016). Meanwhile, we continued with the mission of Cortos Verdes. Yes, unbelievably, it was still subsidized by personal resources. But in 2017, we found ourselves without steady jobs, and the world of personal entrepreneurship began. You know how it goes, sometimes there's money, sometimes there isn't, so the project became unsustainable. In 2020, there was an attempt to relaunch it, but then the pandemic hit, halting our plans. So, we decided to move on with our lives and projects, but that itch always remained. Over time, we realized that everything had changed, the rules of the game had changed, and today we decided to revive this beautiful project, now with more experience, seeking help from the universe (or whatever you want to call it) while also taking action, because obviously things don't just happen on their own.

We wanted to return by conducting video interviews with creative talent and documentaries showcasing the richness of our city and our Mexico, but our equipment is not suitable because it is damaged and increasingly obsolete. All of this makes it difficult for us to create quality content.
